A3HW5: First day with Quran translation

For the Class Date: 1/26/2020, Following homework is due on 02/02/2020


We have started on Quran Translation alhamdulillah.  We started the day spending time with making sentences using Units 1,2, 4, 5 and 6.

Students should bring the sentences from last week in writing (in Arabic) as well as make their own 5 sentences in Arabic

All 15 sentences are due this Sunday in writing with the homework lable (A3HW5)

We also worked on first 15 verses of Surah Baqarah again.  We reviewed all reading rules (with Sr Hindi) and all grammar concepts (with Br Yousuf).  Let's prepare uptil verse 18.  Read these verses, figure out reading rules and find all grammar concerpts (From Unit 1 till 6) to best of your ability

A2HW5: Our first surah (casual)

For the Class Date: 1/26/2020, Following homework is due on 2/02/2020

We have started on our first surah (Surah Kawthar) - in a casual way.  We know 3 reading rules so far and we applied all of them on this Surah 

This Surah has 10 words.  Be sure to write each of them and spell them

Also we will work on vocabulary page as well to memorize few commonly used Arabic words

A4NHW1: Page 22 and learning about sound plurals

We worked on translating verses 40 and 41 of Surah Baqarah. Next week Insha Allah we will translate verses 42 to 43. 


We reviewed Advanced Grammar on Page 22 - Numbers: Singular, Dual and Plural

Translate the below sentences in Arabic - For some of the new vocabulary below, refer to Page 22.
  1. The worshiper (woman) entered the masjid.
  2. The two scholars (men) left the muslim (man) in his house.
  3. The muslim (man) left the two scholars (men) in my house.
  4. Khalid left the scholars (men) in the school.

A3HW3: Completing the FIXED NOUNS

For the Class Date: 1/12/2020, Following homework is due on 1/19/2020

Quran Reading and reading rules
We spent half hour  with Sr Hindi reviewing all reading rules on the 1st 10 ayaat for Surah Baqarah. 

Grammar - FIXED NOUNS from Unit 2, 5 and 6
We spent 90 minutes reviewing all 30 words and made short sentences in the class.  everyone made few sentences of their own. Going forward this will be a 30 minutes class.

Arabic Reading
We reviewed Pages 15 and 16 with Sr Rand & Hindi.  Be sure to practice these pages on your own

Quran Translation class will start on Sunday Jan 26th.  Be sure to bring a simple blank notebook with you on Jan 26th :)

Quran Reading and reading rules
We spent 90 minutes reviewing all reading rules on the 1st 10 ayaat for Surah Baqarah.  Going forward this will be a 30 minutes class

Grammar - FIXED NOUNS from Unit 2, 5 and 6
We reviewed all 30 words and made short sentences in the class.  Practice these words on your own and everyone should make at least 3 sentences of their own.  We are not looking for perfection yet, just your effort!

Arabic Reading
We reviewed Pages 13, 14 and 15 with Sr Tricia.  Be sure to practice these pages on your own

We have not started the Quran Lesson and Quran translation class yet!

A1HW4: Letter Alif, Alif practice and class structure confirmed

For the Class Date: 1/12/2020, Following homework is due on 1/19/2020

Your class structure was confirmed after following it in the class. It is no in any particular order, we will change the order as needed for that day
  • 10 to 15 minutes of homework review for what is due that day and what needs to be returned
  • 10 to 15 minutes of hand written non-Quranic words review
  • 10 to 15 minutes of Quranic words review especially for the letters being covered on the day
  • Alif practice to notice the correct pronunciation of a letter
  • New letters and related practice

  1. We learnt about letter Alif and that is one of those 6 letters which do not join on the left side.  
  2. We started on Alif practice for each letter
  3. We looked at the words from page 5, 6 and 7 and spelled them to figure out if we can detect the 10, 11 letters we have worked on so far

A3HW1: first set of homework

For the Class Date: 12/22/2019, Following homework is due on 1/05/2020


Note: WE have completed the reading rules and from here we will use them in Reading class

Following homework is for review.  There is nothing due in writing
  1. Reading rules (description and practice reading): We will start with some short suraat and apply all reading rules
  2. Al-Madinah book: We have done few pages now, especially using some common vocabulary which was also covered in Grammar class (Unit 5 & 6)
  3. Grammar - We had heavier than usual practice of Unit 2, Unit 5, Unit 6.  All Nouns from these units are called FIXED nouns and we need to memorize them
  4. Memorize Unit 5 & 6 - here is short sheet, memorize only 1st three boxes of words (from grammar book's Unit 2, 5 & 6)
