• We also reviewed verses in 50s for our oral review
• Arabic 4 worked on some new verses in 140's with Br Yousuf while Br Neamul worked with Arabic 5 on verses in 190s.

A3HW1: reading, prepositions, books and syllabus

First class as Arabic 3 students started on April 23rd 2017, Alhamdulillah!

Everyone should have received their book yesterday along with copy of the syllabus.  Syllabus is same as listed on your registration site (mnia.org).  You can pay $10 for the book next week.

1. Please practice reciting Surah Baqarah verses 10 to 20 so you can be tested with the rules in the class
2. For Grammar, summarize on a piece of paper what did you understand about attached pronouns
3. Can you think of any examples of attached pronouns from the daily life supplications, verses of Quran or saying of our Prophet (pbuh)?
4. Coming week you will be introduced to Quran lessons class as well as Arabic reading class

Summary

• There are ONLY 3 categories of words in Arabic language
• We learnt the importance of the attachments.  possessive pronouns attach at the end of ANY word hence they are called Attaching pronouns as well
• Attaching prepositions attach at the beginning of a word. Prepositions are the only particles we will learn in this course

Homework

1. Attempt the 5 phrases listed on Page 6 on your own, no community work allowed :)
2. Think about similar words from suraat you already know
3. Memorize all attaching pronouns (9 of them) and attaching preposition (5 of them) along with their meaning

Reminder again - we must start on time so we all promised we will show up on time!

I am sorry for not collecting $5 payments yesterday, next week when you come in, put the $5 in the envelop provided by us and cross off your name from the list

Day 0: starting the class!

Assalaam-u-Alaikum

This class is 5 weeks of Quranic Arabic bootcamp at al Amaan center (5W_BC)

although I have sent text messages already, I wanted to quickly recap in an email since tomorrow (April 22nd) is first day of the class at 10:15 am insha-Allah

Please remember you must be able to read Quranic Arabic comfortably in order to benefit from this class. Registration will close because class is full now

• It seems our 3rd floor room is ready in masjid for 10:15 am. Lets be on time.
• Please bring $5 or $10 for your books. I found a vendor who can print for cheaper price but have yet to hear back if we will have all books printed in time.
• A notebook and couple of pencils are definitely needed. 
• Pens and highlighter will help but not required.
• I have included the Day 1 notes for your review.  We will cover this in class tomorrow

A2HW3: Write Surah AnNaas - Practice Rule of Hamza Tul Wasl

We have learnt 5 reading rules so far and worked hard on reviewing them couple of weeks ago.

For the rule of "Hamza tul Wasl", teacher shared following handout in the class to practice this rule in Quran Suraat (chapter).

Your homework is to write the last chapter of Quran (Chapter 114 - The Mankind).  You can find it in your green book or you can find it here at quran.com

• It has 5 verses so each verse should be written individually on one line
• Also practice reading this surah.  You can do so at quran.com or House Of Quran (be sure to choose Chapter 114 in the drop down in the top bar).  Reflect about how Hamza tul Wasl is being used and read in this Surah.  This is one of the chapters using this rule abunduntly

2. We resumed Grammar about the Subjects and objects and will continue working on that.  Be sure to read page 32 from your grammar book
3. Each student should make 5 of their own sentences from all what they remember

1. 2 kind of reviews will continue for Arabic 5 - "the listening" in mid part of Juz 1 and "by seeing" towards end of Juz 1 will continue as usual
2. 1 kind of review will continue for Arabic 4, who have now alhamdulillah completed whole Juz 1.  Your second pass through Juz 1 will start soon
3. Grammar lesson has been assigned for irregular verbs and we will pick it from there!  Be sure to read page 100 from small book "Easy Arabic Grammar"

A2HW2: review after Mashood's return

We reviewed all 4 rules we have learnt so far and looked at some exceptions.  Regular teacher was sick so Br Mashood taught the material

• Students confirmed How to find Wow and Ya Leen (the word must have a wow or ya with a sukoon  & the letter before it must have a fathah)
• How many kinds of tanween are there and What happens with two fathah tanween
