A4HW2-2019: Next steps in Grammar


Assalaam-u-Alaikum Dear Arabic 4 Students (NEW and SENIORS)

For this Class Date: 01/20/2019, Following homework is due on 1/27/2019


please be aware of these terms

Dawrah 1 - Means this is word to word writing in the notebook and going through the categories and translation for the new aayah.

Dawrah 2 - Means making the phrases of the ayah and translating them for tafheem (what do we learn from segments of aayah).

Dawrah 3 - Means going through the Grammar of each word of ayah (oral).

Dawrah 4 - Means can only look at Arabic text from Quran and translate.
Dawrah 5 -  This is the last dawrah, your class is NOT working on this yet.  This dawrah means, you listen and translate to English.  You CANNOT look at the ayaat.

HW2-2019: All dawraat and review!

Assalaam-u-Alaikum Dear Students in Arabic 5 & 6

For this Class Date:  01/20/2019, Following homework is due on 01/27/2019


Advanced Students (See Student list here)
Our goal - finish and review Juz 1 as much as possible

Darwrah 1 - Means this is word to word writing in the notebook and going through the categories and translation for the new aayah.
Dawrah 2 - Means going through the Arabic phrases for both Arabic 5 and 6.
Dawrah 4 - Means can only look at Arabic text from Quran for Arabic 5 and for Arabic 6 (Dawrah 5) - cannot look at Arabic text.


Quran - Teacher: Sister Sadaf
  • Dawrah 3 (completed): Old review finished - Ayaat 136-141 [Next step - New Big Picture below)
  • Dawrah 1: NEW Ayaat done for (writing in notebook Dawrah 1) aayah 218.
    • Finished word by word analysis and Categories were done last week. This week we did the eloquent.
  • Dawrah 4/5: Did ayaat 40-50 without looking in order (Dawrah 5) for Arabic 5 and 6.

Grammar - Teacher Br. Mashood:

  • Brother Mashood came and explained bigger plan that we have for the next 4 months before Ramadan. In preparation for Ramadan students will be focusing on reviewing JUZ 1 and JUZ 2.
  • The points that were discussed are as follows: 

    1. Grammar will be discussed from the black book that will be coming soon
    2. Teaching the other Arabic classes - this will help both our teaching skills and help better our knowledge and apply what we have learned over the years.
    3. Translation - to translate from Juz1 and 2 in preparing for Ramadan

Teacher Sr. Khadija:

  • Dawrah 2: Went through ayas 1-10. Took turns telling what we learn through those ayaat.


NEW   --- Quran Study practice with Surah Al-Baqarah @11:30 and then Al-Mulk @12 PM (Teacher Brother Mashood)



  • Reviewed ayaat 1-20 from surah Baqarah. Brother took turns asking people to translate ayas not using notes to test the knowledge.
  • Reviewed aayah 8 from surah Al-Mulk.


  • Homework- for next week on Sunday January 27th

    Quran -
    • Prepare Verses 50-70 for review by seeing (A5) no looking (A6). Also prepare verses 21-30 for review with all classes.
    • Prepare NEW Verse 219 for Darwrah 1 - students are expected to write the verse in the Quran notebook and have it ready to go for class. 
    • Finish the eloquent for aayah 218.


    Grammar -
    • *Review Sarf chart and practice the different forms.
    • Finished worksheet sister Tricia handed out
    • Next grammar lesson with be about negation from Sr. Tricia

    HW1-2019: Dawrah 4/5 completed for Juz 1

    Students attended: Arabic 5 Students: (Br. Rumed) and Arabic 6 students: (Sr Moxobo)
    Class time from 10AM-12:30 PM

      • Finished word by word analysis and Categories were done last week. This week we did the eloquent.
    • Dawrah 5: Did ayaat 20-40 without looking in order (Dawrah 5) for Arabic 5 and 6.

    Grammar - Teacher: Sister Tricia

    • Reviewed briefly hollow verbs and how to conjugate them
    • Went over worksheet for word  ئصلُ /ؤصل . We worked on filling out the 1st person, 2nd person, and 3rd person forms for both feminine and masculine.


    Feedback on class:

    We were not doing so good on the hollow verbs so we had to switch to the usual chart for sarf.

    NEW   --- Quran study practice with Surah Al-Mulk @ 12 PM (Teacher Brother Mashood)

    A2HW6: The unnamed rule


    We didn't have any class last week (Dec. 30th) so on Sunday Jan 6th - we worked on differentiating between Hamzatul Wasl and Unnamed Rule.  We used page 55 from Green book and then went thru some verses of suraat to observe the application of this rule

    Homework is to write Surah Feel - word by word and list its reading rules (for each word)

    Final Exams: Sunday Jan 13th



    Insha-Allah here are some reminders about your exams tomorrow
    1. Most exams will start at 8 am but if you are running late, we must start by 10 am for sure - All exams must be done by 1 PM!
    2. remember our goal is to help you pass.  Do not panic about exams being too hard.  Just stay focused. We and You are doing this for sake of Allah (swt)
    3. If you cannot make it tomorrow due to sickness or any emergency situation, please inform us asap! so we can figure out something - please call or text me at 612 860 5311

    Arabic 1 will be tested on letters
    • You have about 35 to 40 words to write and some essay questions as we review last week
    • Some words to spell (like you did in class)
    • All your homework must be in as it is 40% of your grade.  The last 5 homeworks are esp. important.  your deadline for turning in all homeworks is Jan 20th (next Sunday)

    Arabic 2 will be tested on 10 reading rules and 7 to 9 suraat (WORDS only)
    • You will be asked to read words and will be given 2 chances if you make a mistake in reading
    • there is no writing involved
    • Your home works are looking great in general so I am concerned about collecting any home works from you
    • Usually Arabic 2 are considered longest (but easy) exams.  Come with patience and plenty of time!
    • Use the audio and video files to help yourself

    Arabic 3 will be testing on basic grammar rules and first 15 ayaat
    • You will have a Quran lessons, Arabic (al Madinah) and Quran (application of Grammar) test.  All of these are short tests
    • Your longest and most important test is on Grammar - Unit 1 to 6 and 9
    • Whatever needs to be adjusted for sake of testing, I am on top of that.  Usually Arabic 3 is considered hardest exams and we will adjust future class based on your exams.  So no worries - hang in there!
    • You will be getting the verb sheet (Unit 3)

    A1b2-HW11: Review for the final exam


    There is no new homework.  Please catch up on past 5 homeworks (HW 6 to HW10).  So in the class yesterday we mostly focuses on two homework pages from your book (HW9 & HW10) so you are better prepared for the exam

    We reviewed the essay questions from the book as well as following concepts in the class

    1. Tall letters
    2. Long vowels
    3. Tummy letters 
    4. Please see the attached picture

    We also reviewed lesson of Hamza and ha quickly so everyone can be on same page.  Please watch videos from HW9 and HW10 to complete these letters and homeworks associated with them

    I have every reason to believer, you will do well for the exam and be ready for new class (Arabic 2) starting on Sunday Jan. 27th inshaa-Allah at the same time as now

    We have worked on many new concepts (in the context of singulars) which will be repeated in next one month again in the context of Plurals (Sound, Broken, Non-Human)

    We have read with reading rules and translated (for Dawrah 1) upto Ayah 85.
    We also reviewed Ayah 1 to 44 using the Stickies Project.  This is for Dawrah 2 to repeat and remember our vocabulary

    Sarf and Grammar Analysis
    We have reviewed this indirectly but in near future, will focus on this consciously in an interactive style

    A2HW20: Final Exam preparation for Sunday Jan 13th


    Assalaam-u-Alaikum Dear Arabic 2 Students

    For this Class Date: 12/30/2018, Following homework is due on 1/06/2019

    We mainly focused on how to final exam testing will take place.  Students might be tested individually or in groups of 2


    • Each student will be tested for vocab words using the Vocabulary sheet.

    • All exercise pages after page 25 in Green Book
